It is also a more common plug as the MR43T can be a bit hard to come by. The MR43T does have a stainless steel base as it is a true marine plug. Gap is .035". But, when RPM is increased, the engine revs with little or no boat acceleration because the prop begins to spin. A spun hub feels like a loss of power with excessive RPM. I'm sure there are people who run there mercs at 70000 rpms doing wheelies and never have a failure. The Gray wire from the LR-54 to the CDI is what actually activates the RPM limiter. Unplug the gray wire.
